Sometimes when you’re going back and forth on an email or text it’s easy to get the wrong impression of the attitude or state of mind of the other person. For instance; we might get the idea that they are mad at us or upset about something we said because they used exclamation points or all caps when they replied.
Since the invention of email and with the growing popularity of text messaging and social networks people have stopped communicating. We would rather send a text, write an email, post a message or send a tweet than have an actual conversation. Therefore the art of communication is dying and the act of miscommunication has taken its place.
If we don’t know how to communicate with the people we come in contact with on a daily basis how will we ever be able to communicate with God? The world wide web doesn’t reach heaven and God doesn’t answer email.
A real relationship is based on communication. In order for us to understand God we have to communicate with Him. And the only way to communicate with Him is to spend time in His word and time on our knees.
Scripture
I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer. Psalm 17:6
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction; faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12
And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. James 5:15
But when you pray, go into your room; close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6:6
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. Romans 8:26
