Calmness in the storm…..

July 31, 2011

Sometimes it seems like your world is caving in all around you and no matter where you turn you can’t seem to get away from the problems that keep coming your way.
Life can be difficult at times but the storm will pass.  The sun will rise in the morning and a brand new day will begin.  Jesus is there to calm our fears and keep us safe no matter how rough the waters become.

When we put our trust in HIM we will survive the raging storms of life.  And we will even become stronger because it is the storms in life that bring us to the cross.  They make us realize just how weak and vulnerable we really are.  Without troubles and sorrows how would we even begin to understand how much we need Jesus?

Pain, heartache and disappointments are part of this life.  We can’t escape them.  Friendships come and go, loved ones pass away and tragedy strikes when we least expect it but there is good news.  This world…… this life…… is not all there is.  If you are a follower of Jesus Christ you have heaven to look forward to.  A magnificent place where the streets are paved in gold; a place where there is no sorrow, no sickness and no tears.

So when the storms of life rage and you are overwhelmed by feelings of anger, fear or grief just remember we have a God who understands.  All we have to do is turn to Him and He will accept us into His loving arms and give us the comfort we so desperately need.

 Scripture

When the disciples saw Him walking on the lake, they were terrified.  “It’s a ghost” they said, and cried out in fear.  But Jesus immediately said to them “Take courage!  It is I.  Don’t be afraid.”   Matthew 14:26-27

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort.  2 Corinthians 1:3

For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.  2 Corinthians 1:5

The twelve gates were twelve parts, each gate made of a single pearl.  The great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass.  Revelation 21:21

A Moment In Time

                                                                                         July 24, 2011

On July 27, 2006 our precious grandson Caleb was born.  Had he not died of SIDS he would be five years old this Wednesday.

On July 29, 2007 our daughter in law and two grandchildren were in a horrible accident that left our grandson Jason paralyzed from the neck down.

Needless to say this week is very difficult for our family.  I pray every day for our grandson and I know some day God is going to make a way for him to feel and move his body again!  And I know some day we will see Caleb again and that makes me smile. But not having him here with us is a sad reminder that life is not fair.

We all have hardships in our life and events that shake our world to the core; events that fill our heart with what seems like unbearable pain.  Our filter gets skewed and nothing ever seems quite right again.  It’s as if God is punishing us for our sinful past.

This could not be further from the truth.  We do have consequences for our sinful choices but God doesn’t punish us by taking our children away at five months of age or paralyzing our children at four years of age.  Does that seem like a loving God to you?

We serve a God full of love and mercy and His will for us is to know His Son so that we might live with Him for eternity.  Jesus knows our pain and our suffering.  He knows how it feels to lose someone you love, to be ridiculed and rejected by the ones you love.  He knows the physical pain of being beat almost beyond recognition and He knows the pain of death.

I read a quote the other day that said “For those who don’t know Christ this is the only heaven they will ever know.  For those who do this is the only hell they will ever know”.  That pretty much says it all.  When this life is over we will know the fullness of God’s love forever.  The pain and suffering of this life will be but a moment in time compared to eternity with the Lord.

If you are overwhelmed by the pain in your life, turn to the Father.  He will take your burden upon Himself and give you rest!!!

 Scripture

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  Matthew 11:29

The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.  Deuteronomy 31:8

Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them.  He had Jesus flogged and handed Him over to be crucified.  Matthew 15:15

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.   So that who so ever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.    John 3:16

Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.  Jude 1:21

A glimmer of hope.....

July 17, 2011

You know how you can believe something with all your heart is going to happen but it seems like it is taking the Lord way too long to confirm your faith?

I still haven’t waivered on my faith that God is going to heal Jason but at times I wonder just how long will he be confined to that wheel chair.  He has been paralyzed for 4 years this month and with each passing year I wonder “how much longer, Lord?”

Well, the other night while I was perusing a web site that I seldom visit I came across an article that renewed my hope that God is indeed going to heal my precious grandson.  I have believed this since the very beginning but isn’t it just like the Lord to give us that little boost, that glimmer of hope, to show us that He is faithful and true to His Word?  God knew that I needed to be reassured that someday Jason will be able to move and feel his body again.  He wanted to show me that my faith hasn’t been in vain.

After reading the miracle of what modern medicine has been able to do with spinal cord injuries I felt renewed in my faith that God will not allow my prayers for Jason to go unanswered!  I don’t know when Jason will be healed I only know that he will be.  It might be years from now but when that day comes you can be sure that God will receive all the praise and all the glory!!!!!

The link to the website I mentioned is listed below.

We live by faith not sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7

In Him and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.  Ephesians 3:12

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.  Hebrews  11:1

If you believe you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.  Matthew 21:22

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all of their troubles.  Psalms 34:17

Bring HIM Back!!

                                                                                         July 3,, 2011

Happy Independence Day!

I pray that God will continue to show His great mercy on this Nation.  In the last few decades we (America) have turned our backs on God.  We have taken Him out of our schools, out of the workplace and even out of our church’s.  And He still has not turned His back on us (yet).

We serve a God that is long suffering but there will come a time when His anger will be thrust upon us and rightfully so.  We cannot remove Him from our lives and continue to live as though we have nothing to lose because the truth is we have everything to lose.  Our rights, freedoms and our way of life are in jeopardy of being destroyed if we don’t turn back to God!

We have to take a stand if we want to get our Nation back to how the founding fathers designed it.  We are a Nation of Christians.  We do believe in God, family and Country.  We do hold these rights to be self evident and endowed by our Creator!!!

We have to stop being a Nation that allows our government to tell us when  we can say the Name of Jesus out loud, when and where we are allowed to pray to God or how to raise our kids or what cars we can own or what unions we have to pay dues to or what kind of light bulbs we must buy or a government that demands that we all purchase health insurance!!  It is not the government’s job to run our lives it is our job to run the government.   And God help us if we don’t start doing our job now!!!!

It is time for Christians to stand up and in one voice cry out to God and ask Him for forgiveness and beg Him to heal our land,  Ask Him to send us a righteous man or woman to lead our country in 2012; Because a Country without God is a Country gone under.
Remember August 6th is a day of prayer and fasting for our state and our Nation.

Scripture

if My people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.  2 Chronicles 7:14

In my distress I called out to the Lord; I called out to my God.  From His temple He heard my voice; my cry came to His ears.  2 Samuel 22:7
