False Prophets

There have been many false prophets throughout history and I am certain that many more will come; all claiming to know the will of God.  Saturday, May 21, 2011 came and went without the rapture of the saints as most Christians new it would.  Harold Camping claimed to know the hour and the day of the Lord’s return.  Something not even Jesus Christ, the Son of God knows.  God has reserved that knowledge for Himself only.  Yet disciples of Harold Camping gave up everything they owned to buy thousands of billboards around the world to warn of the impending rapture according to Camping would start at 6:00 PM yesterday.  Yet, we are all still here.

Harold Camping claimed that God revealed the exact timeline and date of the end of the world through calculations that begin with the real date of the flood.  Camping says “he came up with the very precise date of May 21 through a mathematical calculation that would probably crash Google’s computers.”   The only problem is the bible isn’t filled with mathematical equations, dates, patterns, formulas or anything else.  It is filled with the truths of God and His plan for mankind.  It is presumptuous to say the least that any man or woman would claim to know the hour of our Lord’s return when even the Son of God doesn’t know.  Trust in the Lord and Him only.  His truth endures forever and ever.  Amen.

SCRIPTURE

He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by His own authority.  Acts 1:7

"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.  Matthew 24:36

So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him.  Hebrews 9:28

"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.         Matthew 24:42

The Voice Of God

He spreads out the northern [skies] over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing.  Job 26:7  How  did Job know that the earth was suspended over nothing?  This verse was written thousands of years before it could ever be proven.  God revealed the design of the universe to Job just as He revealed that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of God to Peter.  Is it possible for God to speak to us in the same manner He spoke to the prophets and the apostles?  Can God share His secrets with us, too?  The answer is YES HE CAN and He will if we only ask Him.

I say this because I have heard the inaudible yet unmistakable voice of God many times in my life.  He has revealed things to me that have changed my heart and my life forever.  The secret that most changed my life is that Jason will be healed.  He will feel his body and move his limbs again.  God has told me this over and over again since the accident nearly four years ago and I believe Him!  It’s so upsetting when God’s people say “if it’s God’s will” or “yes, he will be perfect when he gets to heaven” or some other platitude.   Don’t they understand that we serve a merciful, loving, compassionate and healing God?  Nothing is impossible with God…….Nothing!

Just as I have faith that Jesus Christ is going to return I have faith that someday through the touch of His mighty hand or through the miracles of modern medicine  my precious grandson, Jason will be healed.  Praise God and hallelujah that we serve a mighty King!

Scripture
If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:11

"But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven.  Matthew 16:15-17

Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.  Matthew 4:23

Fear......

Are you living in fear?  Fear of what could happen or what might happen or what if, what if,what if happens?  I didn’t think that I was until this morning when I realized I was fearful of the future.  Not my future but the future of our children and grandchildren.  I realized this morning as I was praying that I am fearful that one of our children might lose their job, get a divorce, get in some kind of trouble, or even worse,  that one of our children or grandchildren might die.  I am always praying for God’s hedge of protection around them (as I should) in hopes that we wouldn’t have to endure the pain that comes with those what ifs.

God opened my eyes this morning.  He reminded me that I am not in control of anything…HE is!  And no matter how much I fear the future it will work out just as HE planned.  HE reminded me that no amount of worrying is going to change the future HE has ordained so I just need to stop it!  I thought I already knew this and was living as though I knew it but apparently I wasn’t.

It’s really amazing how God speaks to us and opens our eyes to see the way HE sees.  I will do my best from now on to pray with a humble heart.  Reminding myself that God is in control and HE will see us through whatever the future holds in store for our family. Not my will but HIS will be done.

Fear knocked at the door.  Faith answered.  No one was there.

Scripture

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4

Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked,
Proverbs 3:25

say to those with fearful hearts, "Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you." Isaiah 35:4

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.  Isaiah 41:10
