Sustenance

“Solutions for a more sustainable home” was the headline of a Sam’s club sale ad last week.  My immediate reaction was “that is a great headline for next week’s E-Votional.”  What kind of sustenance do you think they were advertising for; furniture, kitchen gadgets, food?  Everything we need to sustain a home, right?  Nope……. the main sustenance of any home is the Word of God.  Without the bible to feed our soul the other things don’t matter.  God's written Word is what we need to sustain us for eternity. 

The Bible begins with:  "In the beginning God."  Each day should start with those words.  God sustains us when we seek first with our whole heart His kingdom and His righteousness. He who is an heir of salvation shall not die of starvation; and he who clothes his soul with the righteousness of God will not be left naked.   Set your mind upon seeking the LORD and “all these things shall be added unto you.”

SCRIPTURE

Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"  Matthew 4:4

"But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you"   Matthew 6:33)

Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.  Psalm 51:12

Let me live that I may praise you, and may your laws sustain me.  Psalm 119:175

Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. Isaiah 46:4
