EVANGELISM

In the book The Ascent of a Leader, Bruce McNicol and Bill Thrall tell of a woman who has a dream where she wanders into a shop at the mall and finds Jesus behind the counter. Jesus says, “You can have anything your heart desires.” Astounded but pleased, she asked for peace, joy, happiness, wisdom, and freedom from fear. Then she adds, “Not just for me, but for the whole earth.” Jesus smiles and says. “I think you misunderstand me. We don’t sell fruits, only seeds.” Haddon Robinson once said that “You will invest your life in something, or you will throw it away on nothing”.

We have a moral responsibility to share the gospel. Jesus Christ is the only one who can save the lost from the horrifying reality of hell. Spurgeon said that men have been taught to live by remembering that they have to die. Maybe, if we remind ourselves of this at the beginning of each day it will give us the courage to share our faith with others.

It is our responsibility as Christians to seek and save that which is lost. Evangelism is the great commission from our Lord, Jesus. He told us all to go out into the world and spread the good news. Salvation from hell is better than good news it is great news and we should be shouting from the rooftops about how great our God is but we’re not. Why? Is it because many of us are too timid, shy or embarrassed to open our mouths? This my friend is a sin…..did you know that? It is a sin to not share Jesus with others. As Christians, those who know the peace and joy of salvation, we should want to share the love of Christ and the joy that fills our hearts because of Him with the world. So why do we find it so difficult? Is it fear of rejection? Maybe, but that shouldn’t stop us from sharing with others the only thing that will save them from eternity in hell. Remember, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us – this includes evangelism.

Let us think often that our only business in this life is to please God. The reason we should be concerned about the future is because we will have to spend the rest of our lives there.

SCRIPTURES

He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. Matthew 15:15-16

Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! John 1:29

"When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, He will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on His right and the goats on His left. "Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed by My Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited Me in, I needed clothes and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you came to visit Me.' "Then the righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You something to drink? When did we see You a stranger and invite You in, or needing clothes and clothe You? When did we see You sick or in prison and go to visit You?' "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for Me.' "Then He will say to those on his left, 'Depart from Me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
